So this little ping thingee actually works. That's amazing. How it will be useful to my everyday life remains to be seen, but I feel soooo smart right now.
I'm sure the feeling will fade once I actually get some sleep.

At the polls
Well, I voted. A great privilege, and a great responsibility, voting.
Now I need to come clean. One of the candidates I probably would have voted for met me on the parking lot of the local school (where I vote), and proceeded to attempt to engage me in conversation.
I still work Tuesdays and Thursdays. I'd worked all day. I'd been to the grocery, gone to a friend's house to check on her dogs because she was working at the poll, and I had a full evening of cooking, washing dishes, and laundry ahead of me before I could disappear into a book. And this IDIOT wanted to chat.
I didn't vote for him. He simply doesn't understand the working woman.

Did we not know this three years ago?
“We have given a great deal of thought about the impact that public policy has on individual companies, industries and the economy generally."- Daniel Loeb
"As every student of American history knows, this country’s core founding principles included nonpunitive taxation, constitutionally guaranteed protections against persecution of the minority and an inexorable right of self-determination." - Daniel Loeb
“Washington has taken actions over the past months, like the Goldman suit that seem designed to fracture the populace by pulling capital and power from the hands of some and putting it in the hands of others.”- Daniel Loeb
Daniel Loeb has a long history of support for Democrats.
So, Mr. Loeb. How's your candidate working out for you now?
Oh, and if these are mis-quotes, I'll happily remove this blog entry. I do desire to be correct.

Summer Fever
Having finally almost attained true lady of leisure status, I plan to read more. I also plan to share a bit about only those books I really enjoy here on the blog. Why the hell not? Everyone is doing it. The difference is, I'm not about to write about the dogs that are a total waste of money. It's not nice to trash someone else's best efforts, no matter what the endeavor. So here's a bit about the unlucky first to be mentioned, Summer Fever by Catt Ford.
I loved it!! Is that enough of an opinion, or do you need more?
More:
JD goes to the family summer cottage for a little vacation. He gets pulled over by local law enforcement officer (that's local LEO in today's slang), and the sparks fly.
JD is a free spirit, and Russ is more the type to want home and hearth. Both characters are well-drawn, JD more so as the story is written in the first person from his point of view. And speaking of the story, it flows smoothly around the characters, even if it does have just a small bit of melodrama at the end, which is so typical of "romance."
The book is well-written and quiet readable. The sex scenes are pretty hot if you like gay romance, which obviously I do since I bought the book. (It's very affordable for your Kindle at Amazon.) This one is worth the time and money.
So there's my first, poor pitiful book review. I hope to get better as time goes by.
And remember - if I can't recommend the book, you won't find it mentioned here.

And what have we learned?
Cicero 55 BC:
"The budget should be balanced, the Treasury should be refilled, public debt should be reduced, the arrogance of officialdom should be tempered and controlled, and the assistance to foreign lands should be curtailed lest Rome become bankrupt. People must again learn to work, instead of living on public assistance."
That was approximately 2065 years ago.
We haven't learned a thing.

Having a wireless adapter that's a Diva
I just spent $100 on a new router/modem that I didn't actually need.
After several weeks of listening to my hubby rant and rave about his wireless Internet connectiondrop out repeatedly drop out, I caved in and went to the local electronics store. The new Net Gear gizmo is a lot better than the old router/modem I got from the phone company. Go figure. But there's a problem in that it didn't fix my husband's problem.
My Internet connection is better than ever. I love it. Studly, on the other hand, wasfucking pissed off not pleased. He could connect for about fifteen minutes, and then his wireless adapter would simply shut down. He has a Net Gear WG111.3, by the way. It hangs on the end of a USB cable, although from time-to-time he sticks it in the port in the front of his processor. It doesn't works the same either way it's connected.
My bad. I didn't pay close enough attention - until today.
This morning, Studly starts his usual five-star rant about losing the Internet connection. There's some big golf tournament or something today. (like I care) I joined him at his computer and for some reason known only to God and the universe, I put my hand on his wireless adapter. It washotter than hell very warm. Being a smart ass great wit, I suggested he get an ice pack for it.
Guess what? The ice pack works. No kidding.
Studly wrapped his little adapter in one of those freezable packs that are used for sore muscles, and his Internet connection was solid for six hours of golf. Who would have believed it? Not me, that's for sure.
I guess I'll keep the router, though. I think it's giving me a faster, stronger Internet connection than the old phone company router. I'm not having any time-outs, either, so I think the money was well spent.
And who would've believed this would be the first *real* topic I get to blog about. And isn't that strike through a nice toy?

So I have a blog
I'm here, but what do I write about? I'm not sure, I just know I want to write. I read a lot of blogs, and most of them drive me crazy. Who are these people?
I guess they're people like me. If you want to be heard, you have to get out there and say something!
So, I will.
As soon as I figure out where to start.
